Indiana families are stuck in a childcare maze. More than 33,000 children are on the CCDF voucher waitlist. Before 2024 many families waited only a few weeks. Now they are being told they may not see relief until mid 2026. Parents who once paid almost nothing in co-pays are suddenly facing full market daycare rates that can reach well over one thousand dollars per month.

At the same time centers are closing. From mid August to late November 2025 one hundred ninety-seven early child care programs shut down across the state and more than one thousand one hundred eighty-seven seats disappeared. Fifty-seven providers specifically pointed to state funding cuts as the reason they closed. Parents who trusted these centers had to scramble on short notice calling every remaining daycare and joining multiple waitlists at once.

PeekabooSpots exists to reduce this chaos. It is being built as a one-stop platform where parents can search a complete daycare directory, see available programs, and manage their waitlists in one place. For providers it offers a simple system to organize and update waitlists so they are not relying on paper lists and scattered spreadsheets.

PeekabooSpots is also focused on trust and safety. The platform is designed to gather additional safety details such as licensing status, past violations, and existing ratings so parents can understand the history of each daycare before they enroll. That way families are not just choosing whoever happens to answer the phone. They are choosing with real information in front of them while the larger funding system catches up.
